In brief

What works, what to weigh

Strengths

3 reasons to book
  • Exceptional location by Charles Bridge — Hotel Certovka sits steps from Charles Bridge in Prague's Lesser Town, with many rooms offering direct views of the bridge and the river. The Malostranská metro is a 5-minute walk, and the castle and old town are within easy reach.
  • Helpful and attentive staff — Guests repeatedly mention the front desk team as friendly, knowledgeable, and eager to offer local dining recommendations. Several reviews note the staff speaks multiple languages, including Russian and English.
  • Good value for the area — At 33 GBP per night, this is a well-priced base for a prime location. Rooms are clean, functional, and well-heated, with air conditioning available in summer.

Worth weighing

4 to weigh
  • Rooms and cleanliness score modestly — The property earns a 6/10 for rooms and cleanliness, suggesting a functional rather than luxurious standard. Some guests may find the decor dated or the bathrooms basic.
  • Dining is limited — Breakfast is served but the dining score sits at 6/10, and there's no on-site restaurant for lunch or dinner. Guests rely on nearby eateries, though the area has plenty of options.
  • Check-in window is narrow — Check-in is only from 15:00 to 19:00, which may be inconvenient for late arrivals. The hotel does offer a paid airport shuttle, but you should plan to arrive within those hours or contact the front desk.
  • No on-site parking — There is no private parking available, so guests driving to Prague must find public parking or use the airport shuttle. The location is well-served by public transport, which mitigates this.

“My first time in Prague. I arrived at 10 a.m., took the AE bus for 60 CZK to the railway station, then walked across the old town to Charles Bridge. Make sure to take the descent at the end of the bridge on the right, or you'll miss the hotel. I checked in after 14 hours with no problem. Breakfast was fine—you won't go hungry. During the day you can use the coffee machine or have tea in the dining room. The staff speak Russian. Bed linen was clean and fresh. They provide a 0.5L bottle of water per day. The location is wonderful, with a view of Charles Bridge from the window. I took public transport back for 32 crowns. Just behind the hotel, a street leads to the Malostranska metro, a 7-minute calm walk. I bought a 90-minute ticket from the metro station (instructions in Russian), validated it, and took bus 119 from Dejvitska to the airport terminal 1. The trip took exactly 30 minutes, so a shorter ticket would work too.”
